Home remedies for oily and greasy hair


Women suffering from oily skin do definitely have the problem of oily hair. Secretion of excessive oil makes your hair oily, dull and greasy which results in making your hair look lifeless. Oily hair also arise the problem of dandruff which in turn causes heavy hair fall. You need to wash your hair every alternate day or sometimes daily to combat the secretion of oil and to keep your hair clean.
Here are few effective home remedies you can follow to treat oily and greasy hair:

1) Lemon:



Take a fresh, ripe and juicy lemon and cut into two halves make sure that you remove the seeds from the lemon completely. Comb your hair into two parts such that your scalp is visible. Now squeeze the lemon juice onto the scalp and massage it gently for 10-15 minutes. Le the lemon juice sits on the scalp for 45-60 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water. Do not comb your hair when it is damp. Allow your hair to dry before you comb. You need not use any shampoo to rinse off the lemon juice. Do this every day or at the least thrice a week. Regular application of lemon juice to the hair scalp will prevent excessive secretion of oil from the oil glands. Using lemon not only treats oily hair but also benefits the hair by preventing dandruff.

2) Tomato Juice:



Mash one juicy ripe tomato into fine pulp  . You can add a little fullers’ earth in the tomato juice to ensure that the tomato pulp does not drip on its application. Apply the tomato juice to your scalp and the hair as well. Now cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it for minutes. Using cold water rinse off the tomato juice. Make sure that you massage your hair while you rinse off the tomato juice as it provides good stimulation to your hair follicles.

3) Fullers Earth:



Fullers earth is not only used to get rid of oily skin and acne but also used to treat oily hair . It has many beneficial properties. It controls oil secretion in your hair and helps to clean your scalp. You can use this fullers’ earth treatment twice a week for best results. This is how you do it, if you are having medium length hair then take 3 table spoons of fullers’ earth and add little water to make it into a fine paste. Apply the paste to your scalp and the hair as well and let the paste sit on your scalp for around 15-20 minutes. Now cover your hair with a shower cap and leave it for 30-40 minutes. Wet your hair and massage for few minutes and then gently rinse off using cold water. This is an effective way to remove the dirt in your scalp and thereby keeps your hair clean and healthy. Make sure you rinse off thoroughly. Now you can immediately notice the smoothness and shininess just after washing off the fullers’ earth.

4) Baking soda:



Baking soda is known for its oil absorbing quality. It is boon to people having oily skin. It is not only used as a face was for oily skin but also used to treat oily scalp. Take 2 table spoons of baking soda and make a paste by mixing some water to it. Now apply this paste only on the scalp and massage very carefully for 5 minutes and then leave for 10 minutes. Using cold water wash your hair with your regular shampoo. You can use the treatment thrice a week to keep your scalp clean.

5) Egg yolk:


Egg yolk is rich in proteins and your hair requires protein supplements to stay strong and healthy. Egg yolk conditions your hair and helps to remove excess oil secreted by the oil glands. Prepare a hair mask with Egg and apply it to hair. This is how you need to do it, Two 2 eggs and separate the egg yolk from both eggs and beat the egg yolks into fine fluid. Add few drops of lemon juice to the egg yolk and mix well. Now apply this mixture to your hair and scalp and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Don’t worry about the smell, as you will be benefiting from this application of egg to your hair. Rinse off the mixture thoroughly. You can feel your hair soft and smooth right after you wash your hair.

These are pretty effective and easy techniques that you can do in your home to get soft and smooth hair by removing the excess oil from your hair.
