How to dye your hair with lemon juice and other simple techniques

How to dye your hair with lemon juice and other simple techniques

The following steps guide you on how to use lemon juice to dye your hair:

Step 1:

First you need to prepare lemon solution by mixing 1/4th cup of warm water to one cup of fresh lemon juice and fill this solution into a spray bottle. You can add hair condition to this solution before filling it up in the spray bottle. It is advised to add about1/4th cup of hair conditioner of your choice, because the lemon solution can dry your hair and to avoid this especially for those who have dry hair it is recommended that you add the hair conditioner.

Step 2:

You need to wet your hair fully. Make sure that you do not use any shampoo or soap to your hair. After you wet your hair, wrap a towel around your head.

Step 3:

Now apply the lemon solution to your hair. Spray the solution all over the hair and give few light brushes for complete coverage of your hair. Ensure that your hair is damp before applying the lemon solution.

Step 4:

You need to step outside in the sun. Don’t get bored, find a comfortable place under the sun as you will need to stay under the sunlight for about two hours. You will begin to see the colour change in half an hour time.

Step 5:

You will require to reapply the lemon solution after one and half an hour time. Spray the lemon solution and continue to sit for another 30 minutes time or until your hair gets dry.

Step 6:

After your hair gets dry, wash your hair with a good deep conditioner. That is it you are done with the process, but don’t expect changes right away as it takes time for the change to happen. You can expect the colour change in 3 to 4 weeks’ time.
Look for the following changes in colour:
1) Dark Red changes to Dark Blonde.
2) Light Red changes to light Brown or Blonde.
3) Dark Blonde changes to light Blonde.
4) Dark Brown changes to light brown.
5) Light Brown changes to Golden Blonde.

Other simple techniques to dye you hair:

It is easy to dye your hair at home with these other simple techniques.

1)   Henna:

Henna is a wonderful natural hair dye. The natural compounds in henna colours the hair dark red or brown.
Henna when combined with curry leaves and sesame oil works wonders to get natural black hair. Follow these instructions:
Boil around 6-8 table spoons of sesame oil and add curry leaves to it and store this in a tightly closed container. Whenever you want to dye your hair black, add henna to this mixture and boil for a few minutes. Allow this mixture to cool and apply to your hair, wait for 3 hours and wash your hair using Acacia concinna (Shikakai).

2)   Walnut shells:

The shell of the walnuts, gives us a very strong colour that helps to dye the hair dark brown. Crush few walnut shells and put them in boiling water and boil for about half an hour. Let the liquid cool and stain it. Now with the help of cottons balls apply the liquid to your hair and allow it to sit for an hour time. Rinse it off using a mild shampoo. Make sure that you don’t use hot water to rinse off, as it may wash away the dye effect. This is very strong dye and stains everything that it spills on, so be careful in applying it to your hair.

3)   Coffee and Tea:

Coffee and Tea have strong abilities to dye your hair dark brown. Take tea bags or tea powder and brew strong tea, strain it and use the liquid when it is warm. Make sure that the liquid you use is concentrated sufficiently. Similarly you can obtain strong black coffee decoction. Let your hair soak in the tea or coffee decoction for around 4 hours. Rinse your hair with mild shampoo and use a good hair conditioner to see the results.

Please note that you may not observe the results overnight. You will probably need repeated applications to see the change, but be assured that these simple techniques will bring in the changes that you were looking for and are much safer options than the chemical dyes available in the market.
