LICE, the tiny parasites which live on the scalp feed on blood. Most commonly we can see this problem in children. Do you know how lice are spread? They spread via contact with an infected person, using hair brushes, combs and wearing clothes of someone else who has the parasite. You really feel very itchy on the head and you can also see some red bumps on your scalp.

The most embarrassing thing you need to worry about is the louse eggs which are attached to your hair shafts. Lice reproduce very quickly, it is really hard to get rid of lice within few days, but definitely you can solve this problem with easy homemade remedies, but it takes some time like at least 2 months or more and it also depends upon how much care you take and how often you follow the homemade remedies.

Here are some effective homemade remedies

TEA TREE OIL:

Tea tree oil which has insecticide properties is an energetic weapon to kill the lice without any side effects. Lice hate the smell of tea tree oil as a result once you spray this oil on your scalp lice will die. Before going to bed spray this oil on your scalp and hair and leave it on for overnight. Next day morning comb your hair with lice comb, you can see many of the dead lice dropping out from your hair. Then finally rinse you hair with your shampoo. Repeat this process three times in a week up to 1 month to get rid of lice completely.

WHITE VINEGER:

White vinegar could irritate your eyes, so be careful while applying white vinegar to your hair. Louse eggs are called nits. Actually white vinegar cannot kill adult lice, but can kill young lice and nits. If you want to kill adult lice then you should definitely opt for any other home remedy. To get rid of nits is also very very important. White vinegar has a very sharp flavor. Mix equal amount of vinegar with mineral oil and apply this on your scalp and hair before going to bed and leave it on for overnight. Next day morning wash out your hair with your regular shampoo. Continue this process regularly for best results.

SESAME SEED OIL:

Sesame seed oil is rich in anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Sesame seed oil really helps you to solve the problem completely. Take 3 tablespoons of sesame seed oil and mix it with 1 tablespoon of any essential oil like tea tree oil or neem oil whatever you like. Mix both the oils thoroughly and apply on your scalp and hair. Do this before going to bed and leave it on for overnight. Next day morning comb your hair with lice comb to remove all the dead lice and then rinse off your hair with mild shampoo. Repeat this process for every alternate day for at least 1 month for best results.

COCONUT OIL:

Take one fourth cup of coconut oil and mix few drops of fresh garlic juice along with lemon extract. Mix all the three ingredients thoroughly to make a fine solution. Now apply this oil on your scalp and hair and cover your hair with shower cap. Wait for one hour and then rinse off with your regular shampoo. Repeat this process for 2 to 3 times in a week for 2 months.

GARLIC:

Garlic has a strong fragrance that can suffocate lice, as result killing them. Take 10 cloves of garlic and crush them to make paste out of it. Now mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the garlic paste and apply all over your scalp and hair. Wait for 30 minutes and then have a hot shower with your regular shampoo. The pungent smell of garlic will surely kill most of the lice. Keep continuing this process at least 2 to 3 times in a week for 2 months to completely eliminate the problem of head lice.

ONION:

Take two onions and peel them off to make juice out of it. Now apply the juice on your scalp and hair then massage for few minutes with your fingertips. Wait for 30 minutes and then wash your hair with shampoo. This is one of the best remedy that helps you to eliminate the problem of lice. This remedy also helps you to get rid of nits also.

OLIVE OIL:

This is very simple and one of the most effective way to get rid of the head lice. Apply liberal amount of olive oil on your scalp and hair. Now wrap a plastic shower cap to your hair and then wrap a towel on the shower cap so that nothing can leak out. Wait for 2 to 3 hours and then comb your hair with lice comb to remove all the dead lice. Then you can wash your hair with your regular shampoo.   For the first time doing this process will not kill all the lice present on your scalp, just keep on repeating this process again and again for at least one month for the best result.

BASIL LEAVES:

Take a handful of fresh basil leaves and extract juice out of them. Now mix few drops of neem oil to the juice and mix well. Now apply this mixture on your scalp and hair and massage your scalp for few minutes with your fingertips. Wait for 30 minutes and then wash your hair with your shampoo. Basil leaves are very capable and powerful to kill lice. Repeat this process for at least 2 months for good results.

 NEEM:

Antibacterial and antifungal properties are present in neem leaves. Take few fresh neem leaves and crush them to extract juice. Now mix 3 to 4 drops of mustard oil and mix well. Now apply this mixture on your scalp and hair. Wait for 1 hour and then rinse off your hair with regular shampoo. The pungent smell of neem and also mustard oil kills lice and solve the problem of head lice excellently and quickly.

 

Simple tips

·        Avoid sharing your hairbrushes, combs, towels, hats, clothes with others.

·        Always sterilize your objects with which you use regularly like comb, brushes, pillow covers etc.

·        If you feel any itchiness on your scalp do not hesitate to check out if any lice can be identified.

·        Always clean keep your clean.
