Various Skin types and problems associated with them. Skin care for each skin type.

Skin types normally include normal skin, oily skin and dry skin and some people have combination of skin types in different areas of skin. The type of skin you have changes over time. The skin type depends upon various factors such as water content in your body, oil content, your skin sensitivity level etc. I will tell you what you should know about the type of skin you have and how to take good care of your skin.

Oily Skin:

You  will find oily skin more common in the youth. When the oil glands in your skin secrete more oil then you tend to have oily skin. Oily skin has the following characteristics:

a) Thick, Dull or Shiny complexion.
b) Black heads or other red and brown spots on your skin.
c) Enlarged pores etc.

Here are some general tips you need to follow to take good care of your oily skin:

1) Use gentle cleanser to clean your skin and it best that you do not scrub your skin as this can allow the oil glands open up and secrete more oil.

2) Use warm water to rinse and not hot water as it will increase the production of oil.

3) Moisturise your skin. Use light oil free moisturiser.

4) Use oil free sunscreens when you go out in the sun. Normal sun screen lotions tend to block pores thereby causing breakouts.

5) Stay away from cosmetics that contain oil in them. Choose wisely and be careful when choosing the cosmetic product.

6) Apply toner on oily parts of your skin.

7) Do not squeeze pimples if you have any as this will only prolong the healing time and will leave your skin damaged.

8) Limit washing your skin twice or thrice in day and after you sweat heavily.

Dry Skin:

Dry skin is often wacky and feels tight, especially after you cleanse your skin. Dry skin requires special care as people with dry skin will have a tendency towards red patches or fine wrinkles etc. The following are the characteristics of dry skin:
a) Rough and dull complexion.
b) More visible wrinkles.
c) Red or brown patches.
d) Invisible pores.
e) Less elasticity etc.

Problems associated with dry skin are:

b) Peeling of skin layer.
c) Your skin becomes itchy and then turns red due to inflammation.
d) Skin becomes rough and scaly.
e) You feel irritated having more dry skin....!!

Here are some general tips you need to follow to take good care of Dry skin:

1) Exfoliate your skin once in a week to remove the old and dead cells. This helps to generate new skin cells.

2) It is recommended that you use a humidifier in your house or office to keep your skin from drying out.

3) Use heavy cleansers and moisturisers over lightweight products that are used for oily skin.

4) Avoid deodorant soaps and use only mild and gentle soaps or cleansers.

5) Apply a rich moisturiser every time after you take a bath. Reapply whenever needed during the day

6) Take shorter period showers and baths and try to limit once in a day. Prolonged time in the shower dries your skin more making you feel itchy.

7) Do not scrub when bathing and use natural cleaning products.

Normal Skin:

If you are having normal skin then you are lucky to have normal skin as the normal skin will have right balance and right amounts of water and lipids in it. Normal skin feels soft with smooth and even skin tone. It is neither too dry nor too oily and has the following characteristics:

a) A radiant complexion
b) Right sensitivity level.
c) Barely visible pores.
d) Few or no imperfections.

Problems associated with normal skin:

The problem with the normal skin is that it doesn’t exist in this real world. Yes what you heard is right. Very rare people are gifted with the normal skin type and they are really blessed to have one. Follow these guidelines to know if you have a normal skin:
a) You don’t find wrinkles on your skin or just minimal lines.
b) Your spores are not visible
c) Your skin doesn’t feel dry end of the day nor will be shiny.
d) Your skin tone will be fairly even and doesn’t have any red or brown spots.
e) You do not feel the need to use bloating paper to absorb the oil or to use powder during the day.
f) You might experience little bit of dryness or oiliness and this is rare and can be easily resolved.

If you can identify these statements in relation with your skin there are good chances that you have normal skin. However, even if you have normal skin you still need to take good skin care, because your skin gets damaged as time goes on.

Here are basic skin care tips you need to follow to take a good care of your skin of any type and that includes normal skin too:
